designing something is easy.
designing it well is hard.
I’m Tanner, a graphic designer who specializes in branding, typography and data visualization. In just over a year as a designer, I’ve helped clients bring their ideas to life on movie posters, business cards and book covers. I enjoy taking on all types of projects, as the most rewarding part of my job is when a client becomes a friend.
more about me
I have gathered most of my design knowledge from classes at the Community College of Baltimore County, while I have built my Adobe skills by watching YouTube videos and practicing on my own.
Before enrolling at CCBC, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in multiplatform journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park. My first journalism job was an editing role for an online sports news outlet, but a lack of fulfillment compelled me to step away and explore my interest in design.
I don’t plan on returning to journalism, but my studies and experiences in the field have helped guide my work as a designer. Much like with writing an article, I design with the goal of presenting something compelling, concise and accurate.
I hold myself to a high standard and take pride in my work, but I will never be too good to learn something new. Whether it’s watching tutorial videos, exploring designers’ work or getting feedback from clients, I always have a way to improve.
Aside from designing, I enjoy exercising and spending time outdoors. I am fortunate to have lived in Maryland my entire life, though I would love to live in Arizona later on!
